İstanbul Psikanaliz Grubundan İs
From Istanbul Psychoanalytical Group to Istanbul Psychoanalytical Association Provisional Society of the International Psychoanalytical Association
In 1994, Istanbul Psychoanalytical Group was founded as the first psychoanalytical group in Turkey. The Group by continuing its development and change, has been the pioneer of the Istanbul Psychoanalytical Association, the first psychoanalytical association in our country founded in 2001. In January 2007, the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) recognized the four founders committee of the association as Turkish Psychoanalytical Study Group. And in July 2012, Istanbul Psychoanalytical Association has been recognized as a Provisional Society. Thus, for the first time in Turkey, a psychoanalytic association could participate to the International Psychoanalytical Association that had been established by Sigmund Freud.

We have successfully reached a very important stage in the journey that had started with foundation the first psychoanalytical group in our country in 1994. In 2001, we founded Istanbul Psychoanalysis Association and in 2007 we constituted the first psychoanalytical study group in Turkey recognized by the International Psychoanalytical Association that had been established by S. Freud. Finally, the board of the International Psychoanalytical Association has accepted our association as a Provisional Society in Toronto, 28-29 July 2012. This is the first time that a Turkish psychoanalytical association has been included in the IPA. Whit this important step the IPA recognizes us as qualified to select, supervise and train the candidates for the practice of clinical psychoanalysis and to determine their qualification for becoming psychoanalyst. On the other hand, the right to vote was gained in IPA and European Psychoanalytical Federation (EPF).
We would like to share this important development with you and thank you that have encouraged and supported us in this way for twenty years.
